Bob Potts comments on New Co-operation between Business and Aboriginal Groups in Lexpert Magazine Article

Robert Potts, chair of Blaney McMurtry's Aboriginal Group, commented on the trend to more co-operative relations between business and First Nations in an article in the June issue of Lexpert magazine, Rethinking Aboriginal Business Relations. According to Bob, thirty years ago the government was not responding to claims being advanced by First Nations, but things have changed since then. Today many First Nations are well aware of their rights, gained by decades of courtroom experience battling Ottawa and the provinces, and have better access to experts to assist them, including lawyers.  Bob added that this history of litigation is what has led to the more co-operative and balanced approach to negotiation between First Nations, government and business that we see happening now.
