Nationally known for his expertise in real estate property matters, Brett J. Tkatch numbers Canada's top retailers among his clients. He is a partner in Blaney McMurtry LLP and heads the firm’s real estate group.

Throughout his career, which began in 1988, Brett has been involved in a number of significant commercial real estate transactions acting for purchasers, vendors, lenders, municipalities and builders in development projects. He has negotiated and drafted agreements of purchase and sale, encroachment agreements, joint venture agreements, co-ownership agreements, cost sharing agreements, easement agreements and interlender agreements.
The transactions in which he's involved are nation-wide. He retains counsel in other provinces on behalf of his clients and oversees negotiations. From a lending standpoint, portfolio purchases and participating loan amongst major lending institutions involving such multi-million dollar items as office towers.
Brett's practice also includes assisting the Law Society with respect to solicitor’s negligence claims in the real estate area.
"I have been successful in developing a broad range of expertise in various areas of commercial real estate and this has resulted in me and my team being very busy," he says.
The busy schedule also includes time to lend his coaching skills to youngsters in his community.
