Colin is a member of Blaney's Insurance Litigation Group, practising in the areas of insurance coverage litigation and insurance related defence work. Colin’s interests lie with litigation of every description. However, he most favours litigation involving complex or unique legal questions. His goal is to provide his clients with timely answers to their most complex legal issues.

Colin has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Court of Appeal, the Financial Services Commission of Ontario and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal. Colin has participated in coverage cases involving liability policies of every description, including commercial general liability, automobile, homeowner and directors' and officers' policies. In addition, Colin defends insurance related and self-insured retention related claims. Colin has provided opinions in the reinsurance field, including opinions related to the "follow the fortunes" doctrine, good-faith claims handling practices of primary insurers, and the allocation of defence costs between primary insurers and reinsurers.

Colin has authored papers presented at the Insurance Institute of Ontario and at Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. Topics included the allocation of defence costs, coverage issues generally and mass tort litigation in particular. Colin has also written on issues relating to directors' and officers' insurance.

Colin has also been a contributor to The Annotated Commercial General Liability Policy, a text authored by Mark Lichty and Marcus Snowden, who are leading experts in relation to insurance coverage issues and partners at Blaney McMurtry LLP.

Colin received his LL.B. from the University of New Brunswick. While at law school Colin received numerous academic prizes, scholarships and awards, including prizes in contracts law, criminal law, municipal law, advocacy and insurance law. Colin achieved the highest standing in first year and was on the Dean's list for all three years of law school.
