Profile

Domenico practices both business law litigation and insolvency law and frequently his practice involves matters where litigation and insolvency intersect.

In a commercial litigation context, Domenico’s practice focuses on shareholder disputes, real property litigation and contract disputes. Domenico has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice on motions, applications and trials. He has also appeared as lead counsel at Ontario Court of Appeal where he was successful in having a trial judge’s decision upheld. While Domenico has considerable experience in the courtroom, his strength is working with clients in achieving common sense solutions to complex business problems.

In an insolvency context, Domenico has acted for both creditors and debtors in bankruptcies, receiverships and proceedings under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act. Recent restructuring and insolvency engagements include Stelco Inc., Ivaco Inc., Cotton Ginny Limited, Paveco Road Builders Corp. and Veltri Metal Products Company. Domenico was also part of the team that acted for Noma Company in its cross border proceedings under section 18.6 of the Companies Creditors Arrangement Act. As a member of the restructuring and insolvency bar, Domenico has appeared on numerous occasions before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice - Commercial List.

Domenico is a member of the Turnaround Management Association and the Advocates Society. In addition, Domenico assists the Law Society of Upper Canada in setting exams for the insolvency section of the Bar Admissions Course.

Outside of the office Domenico is an avid athlete and outdoorsman who can be found at the hockey rink, beach volleyball court or canoeing in the great outdoors.
