Dominic Clarke is a graduate of Cambridge University, England, where he obtained an M.A. and LL.M. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1988 and to the Bar of Ontario in 1992.
Dominic practises principally in the area of insurance litigation encompassing coverage and defence matters. His practice focus on commercial general liability, directors’ and officers’ liability, and commercial property policies.
Dominic has appeared as counsel at all levels of courts in Ontario. He also represented clients before the Federal Court of Appeal and various administrative tribunals and been involved in many private and court-annexed mediations.
Recently, his work has ranged from acting as counsel in defence of a claim involving an oil spill, to a claim involving alleged negligence in connection with the printing on a product label. He’s also successfully defended actions for insurance coverage involving commercial general liability policies as well as bad faith litigation.
Dominic speaks and writes to and for professional, legal and commercial organizations on various insurance related issues including bad faith claims, insurance for copyright infringement claims, marine insurance, public access to the judicial system, spoliation and preservation of privilege.
He also instructs at advocacy and other continuing legal education programs and is a member of The Advocates’ Society and the Defence Research Institute.
