Born and raised in Montreal and fluent in French, Eric articled with Blaney McMurtry in 1994-1995. He was called to the Bar in 1996. Eric returned to the firm as an associate, after spending the summer of 1995 caddying at the Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland, which he developed an affinity for while studying at the London School of Economics. He has been a partner at the firm since 2002.

Eric’s practice includes both commercial and general civil litigation. He is co-chair of the firm’s Business Reorganization & Insolvency Group.

Since acting as co-counsel for the plaintiff in Jane Doe. v. The Metropolitan Toronto Police Force, Eric’s general civil practice has expanded to include defamation, tax, and real estate litigation.

Eric’s commercial litigation practice focuses on bankruptcy and insolvency, banking, PPSA matters, professional negligence claims against solicitors relating to these issues, fraud, commercial leasing and other forms of contractual disputes.
Eric represents several financial institutions and leasing companies, among other creditors. He assists them in enforcing security, on collection matters, and in resolving priority disputes. He also acts for financial institutions in defending various types of claims brought against them. In addition, as part of his bankruptcy and insolvency practice, Eric acts on behalf of trustees, receivers, creditors and debtors on matters relating to the Bankruptcy & Insolvency Act and the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act.

Eric’s practice also includes acting for Canada’s largest and leading retailers on matters that fall within the practice areas set out above.
