A partner in Blaney McMurtry LLP since 1999, Eugene G. Mazzuca practices primarily in the area of insurance and defence litigation. He has wide experience in representing police and security agencies as well as provincial government ministries.
"I do all forms of public liability defence work with a particular focus on police defence issues," Eugene says. His clients include the Ontario Provincial Police, Peel Regional Police, and Durham Regional Police. Eugene also represents Ontario ministries such as Health, Environment and Public Safety and has defended hundreds of claims against government. Many involved senior public officials and public lands, waterways and roadways.
He handles a wide range of tort matters including personal injury, occupiers' and products liability, professional negligence, malicious prosecution, property damage and libel and slander. Also included in his cases are Charter issues, inmate assaults, police pursuits and motor vehicle accident claims.
Co-chair of Blaney McMurtry LLP's Litigation Department, Eugene includes the enforcement of foreign judgments as part of his practice. He represents U.S. and European companies in judgments made against local companies outside Canada and has been involved in domain name dispute litigation.
Eugene, who has an interest in sports litigation, has been involved in a number of injunctions concerning minor hockey. He appears before all levels of court in Ontario and has a successful record of arguing appeals before the Ontario Divisional Court and the Ontario Court of Appeal.
