Bob Potts's experience in the field of civil litigation has led to a varied practice and extensive client list.

"My practice focuses on civil litigation with particular emphasis on commercial and insurance claims," Bob explains. "The adjuncts to that include a wide variety of personal injury and products liability claims, native land claims and representing a number of different professions in professional negligence suits. Commercial litigation covers a variety of claims".

He has successfully acted for clients in disputes involving real estate and business contracts, corporate disputes and mortgage enforcement remedies. Bob has defended class actions and served as counsel in several leading cases including Abdool and Bre-X.

Acting on behalf of LawPro (formerly the Lawyers' Professional Indemnity Company) Bob has defended solicitors in professional negligence suits. He has represented accountants, agents and brokers and represents the Professional Indemnity Company on behalf of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. He also provides coverage opinions on a variety of policies to insurers.

Bob is active in representing First Nations on land claims and has successfully negotiated a number of land claim settlements in Alberta and Ontario.

A partner in Blaney McMurtry LLP, Bob is a past Director of The Advocates' Society. He has successfully completed the Harvard University Mediation Workshop and the Advanced Mediation Workshop presented by The Advocates' Society, and is active in the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution.

He has chaired seminars and lectured and delivered papers on commercial and litigation practice issues to a number of legal and professional organizations and published in the Advocates Quarterly, National Real Property Law Review and the Canadian Independent Adjuster.
