Steve Jeffery is a Partner in Blaney McMurtry LLP's corporate/commercial group.
Steve emphasizes real estate financing in his practice. He has significant experience in all kinds and sizes of debt financing, including securitization work.
He has served as Blaneys’ lead lawyer in many real estate financings for GE Capital. He also acts for Kimco Realty Corporation, an affiliate of the Kimco REIT in the United States, in respect of debt financing and real estate investments, and for AmTrust Bank, Canadian Branch, in connection with debt financing.
He has also acted for real estate companies such as Tribute Communities and the Avro Group, doing acquisitions, dispositions, development, construction and financings, including the development, financing and eventual sale of the North York City Centre and the purchase, sale and financing of several major regional shopping centres in Ontario.
Steve has significant experience with co-ownerships and the preparation of management, development, co-ownership and limited partnership documentation. He has also done equipment financing work; commercial sales and acquisitions of businesses; general corporate commercial work; and some derivatives work.
Steve was head of Blaneys' business law department from 1999 to 2002. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the firm from 2005 until 2007. Steve also is the editor of the firm's widely read business law quarterly, Blaneys on Business. Steve has a Masters of Law in banking and financial services. His thesis topic was foreign bank regulation in Canada.
