Profile

Dom practices corporate restructuring and insolvency while maintaining a commercial litigation practice that focuses on commercial disputes.

As a corporate restructuring lawyer, Dom represents debtors, creditors, customers, suppliers and court appointed insolvency professionals in proceedings under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act, Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and both the Federal and Ontario Business Corporations Act. In addition, Dom has been retained by debtors, creditors, customers and suppliers to assist in informal corporate restructurings.

Dom has experience in both national and cross-border insolvencies and has been involved in insolvencies spanning a number of business sectors including the aviation, vehicle manufacturing, construction, retail and the hospitality industry. As a member of the restructuring and insolvency bar, Dom appears regularly before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice - Commercial List.

As a commercial litigator Dom has represented clients in a variety of commercial and real estate disputes appearing before the Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Divisional Court and the Ontario Court of Appeal. While Dom has considerable experience in a court room, his greatest strength is working with clients and opposing counsel to achieve solutions to complex business problems.

Dom has previously sat on the Executive of Ontario Bar Association - Insolvency Section and has assisted the Law Society of Upper Canada in setting exams for the insolvency portion of the bar admissions course. In addition, Dom has written on a number of topics including enforcement rights against Indians and Bands pursuant to the Indian Act and the differences between judicial comity and judicial deference in cross-border insolvencies.
