Lou Brzezinski is a partner in the firm and the leader of Blaney McMurtry’s Commercial Litigation Group.

Lou has been actively involved in all aspects of Commercial Litigation and Insolvency. He has been actively involved in the investigation of fraud on behalf of major financial institutions. He represents some of Canada’s largest security and investigation firms. Lou has been involved in dealing with bank fraud and breaches of internet security, including issues involving hacking and breaches of internet protocol and security.

Lou has argued before all levels of Courts and Tribunals, including the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Federal Court of Appeal, the Divisional Court and the Ontario Superior Court. He has been involved in a number of alternative dispute processes, including mediation, and is a certified arbitrator.

He has obtained and executed numerous Anton Piller Orders, Mareva Injunctions, Search and Seizure Orders and Preservation Orders. He has acted on behalf of Trustees and Receivers, and been involved in major Canadian bankruptcies, including Stelco, Air Canada, Eaton’s and Hy & Zels.

Lou Brzezinski has published a number of guides for credit managers, including Credit Managers’ Guide to Privacy Legislation, Credit Managers’ Guide to Cross-Border Insolvency, Credit Manager’s Guide to Bankruptcy and Insolvency in Canada, Credit Managers’ Guide to Reading and Understanding Contracts and Credit Managers’ Guide to the Construction Lien Act.

Lou has taught seminars on legal aspects of fraud investigation in Canada, Cross-Border Insolvencies, Privacy Legislation, Sarbanes Oxley Compliance, and Internet Security. He has spoken on internet issues at the University of Toronto, and has chaired a series of seminars on Internet Law for the graduate law program at Osgoode Hall, Toronto, Ontario.
