Blaneys Lawyer Comments on Role of Expert Witnesses

June 01, 2011

Dr. Gary Srebrolow of the firm's Insurance Litigation Group and chair of its Health Law group, is quoted in the May 2011 issue of Canadian Underwriter magazine in the article Silencing Hired Guns. The article looks at the effect of recent changes to the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure on the roles of expert witnesses, particularly in complex cases involving medical diagnoses.  According to Dr. Srebrolow, litigants who commission expert reports, most usually insurance companies,  would be "better and more informed consumers if they know more about the new process and can avoid the pitfalls".
