Blaneys Partner comments on proposed changes to Ontario Condo Act

September 12, 2011

Tammy Evans, a Partner in the firm's Condominium Law group, is quoted in the article "Should Ontario's Condominium Act be Revised?" in CondoBusiness online magazine. NDP MPP Rosario Marchese has vowed to re-introduce a bill that he created that proposes changes to the The Condominium Act if he is re-elected, and the Association of Condo Managers of Ontario (AMCO) has also called for a review of the Act. However, according to Tammy, "Some of the amendments proposed are a regurgitation of what is already set out in sections of the new Act". She goes on to say that the proposed "bill could cause confusion, and additional costs and delays in resolving disputes".
