Janet Bobechko is quoted extensively in an article by Mark Sabourin entitled "Ontario amends Brownfields Reg with Tougher Standards" in the January 2010 issue of the EHScompliance.ca Newsletter.
Bobechko feels that the new standards will put the brakes on brownfield redevelopment in the province at precisely the wrong moment - just as the economy is showing a slight pulse after a deep recession.
It's not a good time to be a brownfield developer in the province of Ontario,' she says.
