Elsir’s corporate commercial litigation practice focuses in the areas of insolvency, bankruptcy and restructuring law. He is passionate about finding the most cost-effective legal tools to assist clients in reaching their commercial objectives. Clients rely on his creative solutions, analytical approach, and tireless advocacy.
Elsir has represented clients at all stages of the asset recovery process and has significant experience in the resolution of complex corporate commercial disputes. He has worked on a broad and extensive variety of litigation files. He has also appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice on a number of matters related to insolvency litigation, contractual disputes, and shareholder disputes.
Elsir articled at a major national law firm and he served an editor of an industry leading insolvency newsletter. In addition, during his articles, Elsir completed a secondment at the Ontario Securities Commission where he had gained extensive corporate finance experience.
During his time at law school, Elsir acted as the National Chapter Representative for the Black Law Students’ Association as well as a clinic head for the with the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program. During this time, he participated in several court arbitrations and trained and supervised new caseworkers.
Elsir is currently a director on the board of the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers as well as a member of the Turnaround Management Association’s Social Media Committee.
