 Overview

Vincent’s primary practice involves providing clients with insurance coverage opinions and representation in coverage-related litigation.

In addition to his work in insurance coverage, Vincent maintains a broad civil litigation and advisory practice which includes supporting senior counsel in defending class actions. He has supported counsel at all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada.

Vincent articled with the Ministry of the Attorney General of Ontario’s Crown Law Office – Civil, the central civil litigation and advisory office for the Government of Ontario.

  • Canada (Minister of Citizenship and Immigration) v Vavilov, 2019 SCC 65 -

    Supported Crown Counsel in its intervention at the Supreme Court of Canada. The Vavilov trilogy concerns how Canadian courts review the decisions of administrative tribunals and government officials. The Supreme Court used this case to reform the law governing judicial review. View decision here.

  • Thurston v Ontario (Children's Lawyer), 2019 ONCA 640 -

    Supported Crown Counsel in overturning a decision of the Ontario Superior Court. The Ontario Court of Appeal used this case to clarify the test to determine whether a worker is a dependent contractor. View decision here.

  • Dana Bowman et al. v Her Majesty the Queen in right of Ontario, 2019 -

    Supported Crown Counsel in a class action initiated in response to the Ontario government's decision to cancel the basic income program. The matter is ongoing. View Statement of Claim here.

  • Bowman et al. v Her Majesty the Queen in right of Ontario, 2019 ONSC 1064 -

    Supported Crown Counsel in defending a judicial review launched in response to the Ontario government's decision to cancel the basic income program. View decision here.

  • Christopher Welsh v Her Majesty the Queen in right of Ontario, 2019 ONCA 41 -

    Supported Crown Counsel in a class action initiated on behalf of students and former students of four schools for the deaf run by the Ontario government. View decision here.

  • Douglas Joseph Quantz v Her Majesty the Queen in right of Ontario, 2018 -

    Supported Crown counsel in a class action initiated on behalf of ODSP recipients whose names, email addresses and ODSP identification numbers were disclosed without authorization in December of 2018. The matter is ongoing.
