We are pleased to invite you to an upcoming webinar with Blaneys’ Tax Partner, Sunita Doobay, LLM (Tax), TEP, AEP© on June 15, 2021 at 12:00 PM EDT.
The recent Federal budget proposes a broadening of CRA’s audit powers. The budget proposes to allow auditors to orally interview employees of a business. This expansion of the current powers accorded to the CRA under section 231.1 of the Income Tax Act is a response of the Federal Government to the Federal Court of Appeal’s decision in Cameco.
As an accountant or a Chief Financial Officer, your clients may be impacted by this proposed change. Join us to learn more about the CRA’s current as well as (proposed expanded) audit powers under section 231.1. The webinar will cover:
- the current scope of the CRA’s audit powers of a taxpayer’s working papers
- the current ability of the CRA to orally interview employees
- what is covered under solicitor client privilege
- the recent case of Ghermezian v. Canada, 2020 FC 1137
This session will end with a Q&A where we will try to answer as many of your questions as possible.
This webinar is complimentary and open to you your colleagues. We hope you can join us!
