Kym Stasiuk
 Overview

When it comes to real estate financing transactions, Kym Stasiuk knows how to get deals done. His clients appreciate his ability to work quickly, identify and explain legal issues, and offer practical guidance throughout the transaction.

Acting for lenders — both private and institutional — and developers, Kym has extensive experience in preparing and negotiating loan and security documentation for a variety of real estate financing transactions including acquisitions, development/construction lending, refinancings, mezzanine/subordinated debt financings, and related intercreditor arrangements.

Kym’s background in business and economics and past career as an equities trader, combined with his vast transactional knowledge and experience in law, enables him to understand his client’s market and deliver sound, cost-effective, tailored advice that his clients can rely on.

An avid reader of and writer on current legal issues, Kym is also the Editor of, and a regular contributor to, the firm’s quarterly publication, Blaneys on Business.

He is also the creator of www.lawyersforreforestation.ca, an online awareness site which encourages members of the legal community to get involved in reforestation, environmental and other conservancy initiatives.

  • Acts for Tribute Communities by assisting them with their corporate, structuring and real estate financing needs

  • Acts for Metropia by assisting them with their corporate, structuring and real estate financing needs

  • Has acted on numerous real estate financings on behalf of Romspen Investment Corporation, including land assembly and construction loans

  • Assists his colleagues on real estate related transactions, including for clients such as HSBC Bank Canada and The Toronto-Dominion Bank

  • Acted on a number of acquisitions and financings of retail properties by Partners Real Estate Investment Trust
