Rafal is an associate at Blaney McMurtry’s insurance litigation group.
He has a broad practice defending professional negligence claims with a particular interest in police liability. He also defends various personal injury matters. Rafal has successfully argued before the Superior Court of Justice on numerous motions and at trial. He has also appeared as counsel on appeals to the Court of Appeal for Ontario and Supreme Court of Canada.
While in law school, Rafal was selected to participate in the national Wilson Moot competition where he ranked third in oral advocacy. He was also a senior editor of the Manitoba Law Journal, a teaching assistant for the first year legal research and writing course, and a volunteer at Legal Aid Manitoba where he defended clients in criminal matters.
Rafal completed his undergraduate degree in political studies and history and spent a year on academic exchange at Uppsala University in Sweden. When not in the office or a courtroom, Rafal can be found playing squash, reading a variety of subjects (most recently biographies of political figures), or travelling.
