Blaney McMurtry Recognized for Commitment to Diversity

June 10, 2011

Blaney McMurtry received an award in recognition of the firm's longstanding commitment to issues of social justice and anti-racism at the Investing in our Diversity Scholarship Awards Program annual awards ceremony held on June 2, 2011 at Toronto City Hall.

The Program, celebrating its 10th year, awards scholarships to youth from low-income, marginalized communities across Toronto in recognition of their "leadership in building more equitable, inclusive, healthy, safe and positive communities". Since 2001, the Program has provided more than $400,000 in scholarships to over 110 young people. Investing in our Diversity was co-founded by Blaneys name partner, the late Bill McMurtry, who was involved in anti-racism and diversity work long before it became mainstream, and his spirit remains an important element of the scholarship program and the firm’s involvement as a founding sponsor.
