Ralph Cuervo-Lorens joined the judges panel for the 2017 Willms & Shier Environmental Law Bi-annual Moot Court Competition. This is Canada’s national moot court competition devoted to environmental law, held at the Ontario Court of Appeal. The competition is a high-profile event that brings together over 150 law students, leading environmental law practitioners, and judges from appeal courts in Canada, and is widely reported in the Canadian legal press.
The 2017 competition was based on the 2015 Ontario Court of Appeal decision in Midwest Properties Ltd. v Thordarson. Final bench judges were Supreme Court of Canada Justice Suzanne Côté and Ontario Court of Appeal Justices Katherine van Rensburg and Kathryn Feldman.
